Thinking of renting out your home? Consider a military renter... The Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH) provides military personnel assigned to the Denver Metro Area tax-free housing allowances to help them cover the costs of housing in the private/civilian community. Military members can use BAH to pay rent if they choose to lease a home and it can also be used to pay a mortgage. The Department of Defense (DOD) determines the correct housing allowance to enable members to afford suitable rental housing within a reasonable distance of their duty location. For more information on the BAH Program, go to BAHPrimer.
BAH is based on geographic duty location, pay grade, and dependent status. Military members received an increase of approximately 12% in their 2023 BAH allowance from last year.
Visit the following Pentagon website for the most up-to-date information on BAH rates based on a specific Zip Code.
